To date, there have been 43 different winners given Johnny Moss, and Stu Ungar both captured the title three times, while Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan did it twice. Emerging as one of the top winners at the tail end of last week was Hun Wei Lee. Anteing up alongside 960 other players in the $1,050 Bounty Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) event, Lee came through on July 23 to win his first bracelet.
As well as a career-defining victory, the New Zealander banked $161,886 to take his lifetime earnings beyond the $1.8 million mark.
Lee Gets It Done Without Delay
Lee’s route to the final table might have been fraught with dangers but the last stand was anything but treacherous. When Craig Timmis hit the rail in third, only Janne Peltoniemi could stop Lee.
Unfortunately for Peltoniemi, he only had just over 10 big blinds to play with. Knowing that almost any hand would require him to commit his stack, the Finnish player moved in with K♦8♥8♦7♦. Lee called with T♠A♦J♣T♦ and the race was on.
At this point, Lee was in front with a pair of tens but Peltoniemi had outs. None of those outs came though as the board ran out 9♠3♥A♣2♣5♦. That hand not only gave Lee the final pot but a WSOP title and a six-figure payday.

Cheung Claims First WSOP Bracelet
Joining Lee on the winner’s podium in recent days was Allan Cheung. The American grinder was part of a 1,579-strong field taking part in WSOP.com’s $500 No Limit Hold’em Turbo event.
The high-octane showdown is part of the US portion of the WSOP’s online championship. With the blinds ticking over at a rapid pace, it took just seven hours to whittle the field down to a final few.
Cheung proved he was the strongest at the final table and shipped his first bracelet after beating Myles Kotler heads-up.

Masses Ante Up for Summer Saver
With two more titles locked up, the crowds started to gather for WSOP’s small-stakes, high-value events. The $500 No Limit Hold’em Summer Saver was one such event. Available to US players and taking place on WSOP.com, the tournament attracted 1,484 unique entrants.
Of those that bought in, 671 opted to rebuy, taking the final number of entries to 2,155. That level of interest meant the Summer Saver stands as one of the biggest events of the series so far. Moreover, it meant winner Nicholas Kiley took home $149,245.
Kiley has cashed in a number of WSOP events in the past, but his first victory came after beating Guo Liang Chen heads-up.
